In Luke 20:22‒25, the chief priests and scribes sought to ensnare the Savior with a question they thought would condemn him either way he answered. “Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cæsar, or no?” they asked. If he answered yes, then they would condemn him for having loyalty to someone or something other than God. If he answered no, they could inform the Roman authorities that he was a dangerous revolutionary.
“But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?” He asked them to show him a coin and tell him whose picture and inscription were on it.
“They answered and said, Cæsar’s.”
Jesus then replied, “Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which be Cæsar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.”

Read through the Primary lesson “I Will Obey the Law,” which contains ideas on obeying the laws of the land that are so simple a child can put them into action. Ask yourself what one thing you could do to be better at “obeying, honoring, or sustaining the law.” Then put it into action beginning this week.
